How I ended up doing both jobs
I trained as a marriage celebrant because I loved the idea of writing ceremonies — the words a couple actually wants said out loud, not a script pulled off a shelf.
What I didn't expect was how often couples would ask me for help with everything else: which venues actually allow a sunset ceremony, how to build a run sheet their photographer and caterer could both follow, what happens if it rains. So I picked up wedding planning properly, and now I offer both — either together or on their own.
I'm based in Melbourne but travel for ceremonies in every state and territory, from inner-city rooftops to properties three hours from the nearest town.
My own family is Sri Lankan, with both Hindu and Christian traditions sitting side by side, so multicultural and interfaith ceremonies feel like second nature to me — whether that's weaving a ritual from your family's background into the ceremony, blending two different traditions into one, or simply making sure guests from every side feel at home.
